On the eve of the 30th anniversary of the country's independence, a bust of publicist, scientist Sultanbek Kozhanov was unveiled.
The opening ceremony was attended by teachers and students of KazETU College, who got acquainted with new data about S. Kozhanov.
In addition, the ceremony was attended by relatives of the historical figure and representatives of the intelligence, who shared new information about him. The statue dedicated to the statesman and public figure was installed at the intersection of Kozhanov and Zharokov streets in Almaty.
"When you are over thirty, you will not break the Horde when you are over forty," says the Kazakh. Sultanbek Kozhanov was one of the citizens of Alash who dreamed of gaining sovereignty. Therefore, a monument to Sultanbek has been erected today. Our intention is an example for young people," said Mukan Abdrakhmanovich, chairman of the S. Kozhanov Charitable Fund.
Teacher, scientist, publicist Sultanbek Kozhanov was primarily interested in national interests. Historians believe that they fought uncompromisingly for him. The worker tried to establish good relations with the population, solve economic, social, and cultural problems. His legacy is an example for the modern generation.
"Therefore, we consider him as one of those who stood at the origins of Kazakhstan's independence. He is a great personality who followed Alikhan Bukeikhan, Akhmet Baitursynov, Mirzhakip Dulatovich and communicated with Alash figures, provided his charity," said Doctor of Philology Amantai Sharip.
