On the 22nd of September, the Kazakhstan Engineering and Technological University hosted a festive event tagged "Тілім менің – тірлігімнің айғағы", dedicated to the Day of Languages of the People of Kazakhstan, which was opened by the rector of KazETU, Professor Sarsenbekova G.A.

1st year students under the guidance of teachers of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines Kotosheva K.K., Tsyrenzhapova G.G., Owoyinka Gbemisola Adetutu, Owoyinka Banji Richard prepared a meaningful the program, which expresses the history of the Day of Languages in Kazakhstan and other countries of the world, outlined the main goals of the Day of Languages, such as: preservation and development of languages, including small ones, drawing attention to the problem of language learning for the purpose of intercultural and interlanguage understanding, demonstrating the richness of linguistic and cultural diversity, encouraging the study and development of various languages in the course of a person's entire life.

In their speech, the students noted: "We see the high idea of this holiday in fostering love and respect for the native language, in enriching knowledge about the languages of other peoples, in striving for peace and harmony, mutual respect for each other, in preserving national values and spiritual culture of all who inhabit our homeland."

The participants of the event witnessed the multilingualism of the first-year students, the talented performance of poems and songs in Kazakh, Russian, Turkish, Uzbek and English, playing of dombra and guitar. Wise statements of great scientists, writers and poets about the language were presented, it was emphasized that every language is respected in Kazakhstan and this is the strength of our country.

A balanced language policy, a balanced process of language construction is one of the most significant social projects in the life of the state, which contributes to the consolidation of Kazakh society, the integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan into the world community.

On the topic of the event, a book exhibition "Ana tilim – tugyrym" was prepared in the reading room of the KazETU Scientific Library (head of the library Makhambetova Z.S.).

At the end of the event, the presenters of the program addressed the audience saying: "We wish that not only here, but all over the world, any person, regardless of language, nationality and religion will be appreciated."
