The role of society in combating corruption

 

On November 2, 2022, a round table on the topic "The role of society in combating corruption" was held at the Kazakhstan University of Engineering and Technology with the participation of Makulbayev Baurzhan Yesengeldiuly, Director of the Almaty city branch of the NGO "Adildik Zholy", a member of the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Public Council of Almaty, Chairman of the Almaty city branch of the NGO "Kazakhstan Union of Lawyers", Member of the Board of the Republican Board of Legal Consultants.

The Round Table was attended by: Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Science and International Relations, PhD Karuna Oksana Leonidovna, faculty of the Department of "Social and Humanitarian Disciplines and World Languages", members of the circle "Lawyer" - students of Kazakh and Russian groups of the first and second year of KazITU.


The event was opened by Vice-Rector Karuna Oksana Leonidovna, who noted that today the issues of combating corruption are relevant not only in Kazakhstan, but also around the world. Corruption, as a social phenomenon, has a negative impact, and besides, threatens the development of the market economy of the state, causes great harm to the economic and national security of our state and we, as citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan, are simply obliged to counteract such manifestations in every possible way, it is necessary to form, strengthen and develop an atmosphere of "zero" tolerance for any manifestations of corruption in the country, to improve the legal culture of each individual and society as a whole.

Makulbayev B.E. spoke about the activities of the Republican public Organization "Adildik Zholy", which united in its ranks a large community of representatives of all specialties that are related to legal activities. ROO “Adildik Zholy” is a non–profit public organization whose goal is to implement an anti-corruption policy, increase the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures, promote the ideology of integrity, eliminate the causes and conditions that contribute to the commission of corruption offenses. Makulbaev B.E. He noted that the NGO “Adildik Zholy” has branches in all regions of Kazakhstan, then he gave examples and statistics on the disclosure of corruption offenses. The lecturer highlighted the system of anti-corruption measures, which includes: anti-corruption monitoring; analysis of corruption risks; formation of an anti-corruption culture; scientific anti-corruption expertise of draft regulatory legal acts in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Further, B.E. Makulbayev urged all those present not to remain indifferent to the manifestations of corruption offenses, and every resident of Kazakhstan, every student present can contribute to this activity, for example, send photos, videos and other information about corruption to the website www.adildik .kz or contact the call center 1463.
The meeting was informative, aroused keen interest among those present and students. The lecturer answered all the questions correctly, offered to cooperate and hold such meetings more often with him, as well as other representatives of the NGO “Adildik Zholy".

In addition, B.E. Makulbayev, being the Head of the "For Fair Elections" headquarters, held an explanatory conversation with those present about the upcoming Early Presidential elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will be held on November 20, 2022.
