International Scientific and Educational Conference "Artificial Intelligence in engineering and Technology Education"
On February 28-29, 2024, the International Scientific and Educational Conference "Artificial Intelligence in Engineering and Technological Education" is being held on the basis of the International University of Engineering and Technology. As part of the opening of the conference, the President of the National Academy of Engineering of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Technical Sciences Zhumagulov Bakytzhan Tursynovich addressed the participants – the scientific community, representatives of the business sector and representatives of production. In his speech, he noted that the training of engineering personnel in the context of widespread digitalization and the active introduction of artificial intelligence is one of the key factors of the country`s competitiveness, economic diversification, protection of the interests of the state and citizens, and the growth of the welfare of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Bakytzhan Tursynovich outlined the following priorities:
· Identify and master promising areas of artificial intelligence, and, most importantly, implement and adapt AI in practice, connecting it to specific production, economic and social processes (and integrating it into them at a higher level), bringing real benefits to the state, business and the country. There will be more and more such areas in the light of global trends and Kazakhstan`s strategic course.
· To develop the science of artificial intelligence, in the future to bring it to the level of serious fundamental research. Currently, AI is not systematically researched enough, its use remains largely at the empirical level. This is not an easy task, but also a serious niche for our scientific and engineering corps, universities and research organizations.
Bakytzhan Tursynovich stressed that "Today it is necessary to radically improve educational programs, supplement them with those topics that students will meet, figuratively speaking, tomorrow, including AI, that is, work for the future. One way is to work on integrating AI into the learning process and practice. Today it is necessary to understand how and in what ways to develop state support for the training of engineering personnel of a new formation."
