On March 6, 2025, a guest lecture
titled "A
Personality in the Flow of History: Chokan Valikhanov – A Hero of His
Time" was held at MITU. The event was organized by the
Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines and World Languages.
The lecture, enriched with insightful content and a visually engaging
presentation, was delivered by Galiya Aytzhanovna Shotanova, a
leading researcher at the Ch. Ch. Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology,
PhD in History, and Head of the Department of Modern History of Kazakhstan.
Chokan Chingisovich Valikhanov was a
prominent Kazakh scholar, historian, orientalist, educator, ethnographer, and
traveler. He is renowned for his scientific works on the study of Central Asia,
as well as his invaluable contribution to the development of Kazakh literature
and history. First-year students from the PI-24-1r, PI-24-1.2r, BT-24-1r, and AiU-24-1r
programs, along with the lecturer, revisited Valikhanov`s biography, his life
journey, and his scientific and literary legacy.
