Meeting on anti-corruption issues

On October 22, 2021, a meeting on combating corruption in higher education was held in Almaty with the participation of the Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan Marat Akhmetzhanov. The meeting was attended by the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov, Akim of Almaty Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Rector of the Kazakhstan University of Engineering and Technology G. A. Sarsenbekova and other rectors of higher educational institutions of the country.

The meeting discussed the main problematic issues in the framework of combating corruption in higher education, and also presented a draft Concept of anti-Corruption Policy for 2022-2026, which is being actively discussed among the expert community with the involvement of the public.

In addition, the meeting discussed the implementation of anti-corruption compliance services in the country's universities and the implementation of comprehensive plans for the formation of an anti-corruption culture among students. The Anti-Corruption Service and its territorial divisions will provide all possible methodological assistance in terms of opening the services provided in the structure of universities, as well as organizing the work of the anti-corruption Compliance Institute.

Taking into account the format of the meeting in the form of an "open dialogue", the scientific community and the university management shared their opinions and ideas on the implementation of anti-corruption policy in the field of education.

Following the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Anti-Corruption Service and the Ministry of Education and Science. The parties discussed plans and projects of joint work.
