On September 21, 2024, the International University of Engineering and
Technology took part in the event "GARDEN DAY - APORT" organized by
the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the
President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Qazaq Research Institute of Fruit
& Vegetable Growing, held on the basis of the regional branch
"Talgar" of the Kazakh Research Institute of Fruit & Vegetable
Growing in the village of Almalyk, Talgar district, Almaty region. The event
was attended by: Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan
Erbol Kuanyshevich Taszhurekov, Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources
of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurken Kozhamuratovich Sharbiyev, Deputy Akim of
the Almaty region Nurzhan Kenesovich Kudaibergenov, as well as heads of
universities, research institutes, representatives of agribusiness and
international experts, qualified specialists in this industry. In total, more
than 200 participants, including scientists from Poland, Turkey and Bulgaria
attended this Garden Day. At the opening of the event, the President of the
National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan Akhylbek
Kazhigulovich Kurishbayev emphasized the great potential for the development of
horticulture in Kazakhstan and noted the importance of reviving the national
brand - the Aport apple variety, using genetic research and modern
biotechnology. Scientists presented their latest developments in this area.

Gulnar Alibekovna Sarsenbekova together with METU
scientists and doctoral students demonstrated their scientific developments:
dry mare`s and camel`s milk obtained within the framework of the development of
technology for deep processing and equipment for vacuum-freeze drying of mare`s
and camel`s milk based on program-targeted financing of METU;
products obtained using solid sea buckthorn oil extracted using a special
technology based on a commercialization project carried out at the University;
natural juices obtained using innovative technology; culinary products made
from composite flour mixtures and much more that is being developed in METU
laboratories in the field of food production technology and biotechnology.
METU closely cooperates with the Kazakh Research Institute
of Fruit and Vegetable Growing, the Kazakh Research Institute of Soil Science
and Agrochemistry, the Institute of Plant Biology and Biotechnology, the Main
Botanical Garden, the Kazakh Research Institute of Potato and Vegetable Growing
and other organizations, implementing joint research projects and programs that
promote the development of new technologies in this area. Joint training of
masters and doctors is carried out under the guidance of leading scientists in
this field.
