The International University of Engineering and Technology hosted a round table discussion entitled “The Future of Engineering”

On September 25, 2024, the International Engineering and Technology University (METU) hosted the round table "The Future belongs to Engineering", the purpose of which was a broad discussion of the problems and opportunities for the development of higher education and training in demand for the Republic of Kazakhstan engineering personnel in the context of the Message of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated September 2, 2024 "Fair Kazakhstan: law and order, economic growth, public optimism." Discussion of the President’s publication of the NIA RK, Academician Zhumagulov Bakytzhan Tursynovich "Message 2024: The future belongs to Engineering".

In her welcoming speech, Rector of MITU Gulnar Alibekovna Sarsenbekova outlined the prospect of the training engineering personnel in the modern conditions, emphasizing the importance of expanding international relations, the increasing scientific research and improving the educational programs. Based on the material of Bakytzhan Tursynovich`s publication, the Rector highlighted the current to need for the modernization as a factor in the continuity of generations, which are the legacy of "a bright representative of our people Kanysh Satpayev." A lot has been done to achieve a good result, but the cohesion and hard work of the scientific staff, the academic community and business should bring own results.

A special guest participated in the round table meeting – Vladislav E. Sokol, who is the owner of a number of the IT companies in Europe, who came from Poland and kindly agreed to act as an investor for commercialization projects implemented at MITU. In his welcoming speech, he stressed the importance of the university`s interaction with business representatives, since such a tandem is designed to provide the financial support to the scientific developmets.

Such prominent scientists as Doctor of Economics, Professor Mirzhakypova Sedep Toktamuratovna expressed their expert opinion on the prospects outlined by Bakytzhan Tursynovich; Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Malik Zhanturin Zhailaubaevich; Doctor of Sciences, Research Professor Abuova Altynai Burkhatovna, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Professor Tleuzhanova Manatzhan Ashimkulovna, Head of the Department of Biochemical Engineering Solodova Elena Vladimirovna.

Within the framework of this event, the reports were also heard from the heads of the scientific projects implemented on the basis of MITU, in which the scientists reflected the main results obtained as part of the implementation of the grants, the program-targeted financing and commercialization projects:

  • Production of ECG patches for telemedicine;
  • Production of the sea buckthorn oil and enterosorbent;
  • Production of the dry mare`s and camel`s milk based on the deep processing technology and vacuum freeze drying equipment;
  • Study of the epidemiology and molecular biology of resistant avian pathogens;
  • Development of the innovative methods for the selective extraction and separation of the heavy rare earth metal ions;
  • Development of the scientific foundations for the synthesis of multifunctional ion-exchange structures of a new generation;
  • Development of an experimental sample of an autonomous unmanned mobile cross-country robot;
  • Investigation of the heat and mass transfer processes in multiphase and multicomponent turbulent flows by LBM method, etc.
