Coursera is the world`s largest educational organization, uniting over 250 leading universities globally. As a leader in online education, it offers access to 10,000 courses created by authoritative experts, top universities, and world-class companies (such as Stanford, Columbia, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Yale, IBM, and Google). The platform provides numerous advantages for learning, allowing individuals to acquire knowledge and skills in a wide range of fields, from IT and business to humanities and personal development, all of which can be beneficial for personal and professional growth.

Since 2023, Kazakhstan has been implementing a joint program with Coursera. This initiative was launched with the aim of improving the quality of knowledge among university students and opening access for Kazakhstani students to global educational resources.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop both professionally and personally. METU students are engaged in online courses on the Coursera platform, paving the way for their further academic advancement.

Sabyryzhanova Zhannur, a third-year student in the "Standardization and Certification" educational program, shared her impressions of the course, which allowed her to grow in multiple areas

      «What I liked most about the Coursera courses is that many laws, definitions, and theories were explained using concrete examples from well-known companies. The courses often reference companies like Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and many others that have achieved significant success in their niches.

Moreover, each lesson has dedicated forums where students can communicate with each other, discuss the course, and ask questions to the instructors. On top of that, it`s incredibly engaging.

I was also pleased with the abundance of practical exercises, which left a positive impression on me. The learning process on Coursera is very flexible and convenient. You can choose courses with various formats, such as video lectures, interactive assignments, and discussions with instructors and peers.

There’s also the ability to control the pace and timing of your studies, which allows for effective juggling of learning with work and other commitments. The main advantage of Coursera is that the learning happens online. This means you don’t have to spend time and money commuting to a physical location, and you can study at the most comfortable times for you. However, achieving success requires discipline and organization. These are excellent courses to start with. I recommend them to all METU students to enhance their employability in the job market».

«In the era of digital technology, education is becoming accessible to everyone thanks to online platforms like Coursera. I chose a course on this platform because I strive for continuous self-improvement. The course program turned out to be perfectly suited to my needs and expectations. One of the main advantages of the course is the level of teaching. The lectures are conducted by recognized experts in their fields, ensuring the relevance and depth of knowledge. The video lectures are organized in such a way that even complex topics are presented in an accessible and engaging manner.

         Flexibility in scheduling is another advantage of Coursera. I can study at any convenient time and place, whether it’s in the morning before work or in the evening after work. For example, I am currently doing an internship in Turkey while taking this course. This allows me to gain knowledge without sacrificing other important aspects of my life. The course offers numerous practical assignments that help reinforce theoretical knowledge and show how it can be applied in real situations. This makes learning not only interesting but also highly beneficial for my career.

          Additionally, I found an active community of like-minded individuals on Coursera. Discussions in forums, group projects, and the opportunity to ask questions to instructors help me feel part of a larger educational process.

          Completing the course on Coursera has been an important step in my professional growth and personal development. I am confident that the knowledge I have gained will help me achieve new successes in my career, and I already feel confident in applying my new skills. Coursera opens up opportunities for me, and I am deeply grateful for that, as well as to our university, METU, for providing me with this opportunity.
