President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: «Our Main Goal is to Improve the Well-being of Citizens»

On January 28, 2025, an expanded meeting of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2025 was held under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektanov, government members, the chairman of the National Bank, governors of regions, as well as the cities of Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent, and heads of central government bodies and national companies, who made substantive and important reports.

Earlier, on February 7, 2024, at an expanded meeting, the President set 10 key tasks for the Government, and today, 8 of the most pressing issues were raised and widely discussed. The President emphasized the need to focus on several priority areas and ensure visible results in these areas.

The head of state noted that the intensity of global development directly impacts the country’s economy. The development of society and the state is significantly influenced by digital services, and the integration of various sectors, which represents digital progress, was highlighted. The Prime Minister pointed out the plans for the comprehensive introduction of digital technologies and stressed that effective pathways must be created to make the country globally competitive. In his opening speech, the President emphasized the importance of the issue of savings. As the people’s wisdom says, «Water also has its price». The need for systematic control over natural resources such as water, electricity, and state budget expenditures was also addressed.

Additionally, the main areas of the Government`s work were outlined and analyzed during the meeting. Specifically, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev focused on issues such as economic diversification, elevating infrastructure development to a new level, the comprehensive introduction of digital technologies, energy development, the creation of a nuclear cluster, enhancing the potential of the agribusiness sector, reforming tax and budget policies, ensuring financial support for important projects, regulating social support, and further developing healthcare, education, and science.

It was noted that the improvement of the population`s well-being, quality of life, and economic indicators directly depends on the work of the Government and regional leaders, and the results of their work will be determined by the actions taken.

At the expanded meeting of the Government, 8 main areas of work were identified, and responsible agencies were given tasks to further stimulate and develop these areas, as well as to address large-scale tasks for the future. These tasks are expected to be carried out over the next five years.

«Whatever you pour into the cup, that’s what you drink; whatever you sow on the street, that’s what you reap», – the meaning of these words corresponds to the final conclusion of the President. Achieving the right goals, fulfilling responsible tasks, and working for results should be seen as every citizen`s duty to contribute to the development of the country!
