As part of the 2025 the Year of Vocational Professions declared by the Head of State Tokayev K.K. in his Address to the People of Kazakhstan, on February 4, 2025, the International Engineering and Technology of University (METU) hosted a meeting of the heads of METU and the leading colleges of Almaty, the College of the International Engineering and Technology of University (METU College), the Almaty College of Technology (ATK), the Almaty Construction andTechnical College (ASTK), ALMATY POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE, College of Tourism and Hospitality Industry (KITIG). During the meeting, strategic issues related to the development of new educational programs, scientific research and innovative projects, as well as the exchange of experience and personnel between educational organizations were discussed.
The main focus is on training specialists in working and technical professions that meet the requirements of the modern labor market and contribute to the sustainable development of the economy of Kazakhstan. During the meeting, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Rector of METU Sarsenbekova G.A., Director of METU College Shalabayeva M.H., Director of ATK Karagulov E.S., Director of ASTK Akhmetov B.S., Director of ALMATY POLYTECHNIC COLLEGE Omarbekov M.A., Director of KITIG Zhabykbaev N.J. The purpose of the agreement is to develop long-term partnerships, integration of educational, scientific and innovative college resources and the creation of joint educational programs for the training of highly qualified specialists. As part of the signing of the memorandum, key areas of cooperation were discussed:
• Joint development of educational programs and courses.
• Organization of internships and internships for students.
• Joint scientific research and implementation of innovative solutions in the educational process.
• Popularization of working professions among young people.
The Memorandum of cooperation also provides for the active use of intellectual and logistical resources of colleges, which will create new opportunities for students, teachers and researchers. During the event, college directors expressed confidence that this agreement would open up new horizons for all participants and contribute to improving the quality of education in Almaty and in Kazakhstan as a whole. This initiative is an important step towards integrating educational institutions and strengthening ties between science, education and manufacturing enterprises.
