On February 1, 2025, students from the groups TMO-22-1r and RET-22-1k of METU university, together with the professors of the department of «Social and humanitarian disciplines and world languages», visited the Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theater named after Abai. The opera «Longing» – is one of the greatest works of the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, who came from a family of musicians spanning five generations. For the libretto of his opera, Puccini chose the eponymous play by the French playwright Victorien Sardou. The lead role of Floria Tosca in the opera was performed by Zhupaar Gabdulina, Honored Figure of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This great story of love and betrayal, adapted into the opera genre by Puccini, has been touching the hearts of people around the world for over a century. The performance has become so beloved that it is now considered the most frequently performed opera in the world.
