The rapid development of modern technologies seems to be reducing interest in reading books. It is no secret that the preference of young people for social networks in particular is dampening their enthusiasm for books. In this regard, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted at the National Congress in Turkestan: “We need to awaken the young generation’s passion for books. I understand that this is a difficult task. Especially when all their attention is on social networks, it is even more difficult.” These words once again prove the relevance of promoting reading among young people. In this regard, the library of the MITU, the Department of Social and Humanities and World Languages, as well as the Department of Youth Policy, are jointly implementing the “The Book I Read” project throughout the year. This project is aimed at increasing students’ interest in literature and encouraging them to read works of art. As part of the project, students read, discussed, and shared their thoughts on one of the classic works of Kazakh literature, the novel "Love, Years of Excitement" by Azilkhan Nurshaykov. In particular, when it came to the topic of love, students openly conveyed their heartfelt feelings and shared their impressions. The characters of the novel - the fate of Yerbol and Mentai, and the qualities of true love, loyalty, and trust between them - particularly touched the young people. During the literary discussion, students not only analyzed the content of the work, but also deeply reflected on the place of the concept of love in society and its value. Each participant shared their impressions of the book and read their favorite excerpts. The event was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
