METU`s Collaboration in Agricultural Technologies

On March 13, 2025, a delegation from the International Engineering and Technology University (METU) visited the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing (KazRIAPG). During the visit, key areas of collaboration were discussed, and an agreement was reached to develop technical specifications for research and innovation projects jointly.

KazRIAPG staff presented their main areas of activity, showcased agriculture and plant science achievements, and toured the institute`s laboratories. The METU delegation familiarized itself with the scientific developments and research infrastructure, allowing for a detailed discussion of potential cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties agreed to conclude a Joint Scientific Activity Agreement, which will be the foundation for practical cooperation and project implementation.

KazRIAPG is a leading scientific institute in the Republic of Kazakhstan in agriculture and plant science, conducting research in sustainable farming. Implementing joint initiatives with METU will contribute to introducing advanced technologies in the country`s agro-industrial sector.

The primary areas of joint work have been identified as smart agriculture using artificial intelligence, which involves developing digital solutions to optimize agricultural processes and improve yields; automated sorting and logistics systems, which include implementing technologies for efficient agricultural product management; selection and gene pool, which include developing digital tools for managing crop genetic resources; agro-robotics, which consists in utilizing robotic systems in agriculture; and organic farming and digital phenotyping, which consists in applying advanced technologies for monitoring and improving the quality of agricultural production.

Additionally, the development of an employee micro-qualification program, including experience exchange between METU and KazRIAPG specialists, joint scientific internships, and the introduction of dual education elements in research laboratories, was agreed upon.
