On April 8, 2025, the International Engineering and Technology
University hosted the official opening of the scientific-practical conference "Science
2025: Youth Energy", held as part of the traditional Science Week
with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the
Republic of Kazakhstan.
The event began with a welcoming speech by the Rector of the
International Engineering and Technology University, Assoc. Prof. Gulnar
Sarsenbekova, corresponding member of the National Engineering Academy of
Kazakhstan. In her address, the Rector emphasized the importance of science and
education as key priorities of national policy. She also noted that, in line
with the directives the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart
Tokayev, Kazakhstan is taking concrete steps to stimulate scientific activity.
In particular, the recently adopted Law "On Science and
Technology" (entered into force in 2024) laid the foundation for the
development of scientific infrastructure, stronger integration between science,
education, and industry, and especially support for young researchers,
through targeted grants, scholarships, and mentoring programs.
She also conveyed a message of greetings from Academician Bakhytzhan
Zhumagulov, President of the National Engineering Academy, and State Prize
laureate, who
praised the university’s role in forming a new generation of engineers and
researchers.
Mr. Zhang Wei, Science Consul of the People`s
Republic of China, also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of
international scientific cooperation and expressing readiness to strengthen
academic ties between Chinese and Kazakhstani universities. He congratulated all
participants on Science Day and wished them fruitful work.
One of the key presentations of the session was delivered by Prof.
Bagdat Teltayev, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Academician of the
National Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. He stated: "All decisions
in science and education must be made in favor of students. There is a strong
drive for knowledge at this university - and this is the foundation for
training the next generation of highly qualified engineers."

The plenary session marked the start of an eventful Science Week program, which will continue until April 11 and feature exhibitions, student poster sessions, open lectures, and a roundtable discussion on student engagement in research.
