On April 25, 2025, an open day was held at METU at the Department of Biochemical Engineering, which attracted students of grades 9-11 from different schools in Almaty. Future applicants had a unique opportunity to get acquainted with the educational programs of the department and learn about the scientific projects that are being developed within the framework of the direction.

The event presented four main educational programs of the department: Bioengineering and Bioinformatics, Chemical technology of organic substances, Life safety and environmental protection, and Biotechnology. The guests were told about the key features of each of the programs, their advantages and career prospects.

Particular attention was paid to the scientific projects of doctoral students working at the department. Participants could get acquainted with modern research conducted in the field of biotechnology and bioengineering, as well as learn how this knowledge is applied in real scientific and industrial projects.

During the tour of the Bioinformatics and Genomic Research laboratories, schoolchildren saw cutting-edge technologies used to analyze biological data and study genetic information. The department`s teachers and students demonstrated equipment and work methods that allow for innovative research at the intersection of biology and technology. The event participants left with positive impressions, inspired to further study science and technology.
