On May 16, 2025, the International Engineering & Technological
University (METU, Almaty) hosted an official meeting with the delegation
of one of the leading scientific centers of the People`s Republic of China -
the Shenyang Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIA
CAS). The event marked an important step in strengthening scientific and
technological cooperation between Kazakhstan and China.
The Chinese delegation
included Professor Yifeng Song, Associate Professor Yong Chang, and Engineer
Chen Liang. The Kazakh side was represented by Oksana Karuna, the Vice-Rector
for Science, Innovation Policy, and Marketing of METU; Moldir Kuatova, the
Director of the Department for Scientific and Innovation Activities; heads of
departments; faculty members; and doctoral students.
During the meeting, METU
presented its scientific developments, showcased key projects, and discussed
prospects for collaboration in robotics, digital technologies, and intelligent
manufacturing. Both sides expressed interest in conducting joint research,
promoting academic mobility, and developing scientific and innovative programs.
The Shenyang Institute of
Automation is one of the oldest and largest scientific institutions in China,
employing over 1,400 staff, including more than 400 highly qualified
researchers. The institute includes key national laboratories and research
centers in robotics, the industrial Internet of Things, optoelectronic technologies,
and intelligent manufacturing.
METU, in turn, has established
itself as a dynamically developing university offering educational programs at
all levels — from college to doctoral studies — conducting both applied and
fundamental research, and fostering innovative infrastructure and international
collaboration.
After the visit, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing scientific and educational cooperation aimed at the joint implementation of projects, exchange of experience, and strengthening of partnerships in priority areas of science and technology for both countries.
