On October 15-16, 2025, Almaty hosted the International Scientific and Practical
Conference «Current Issues in Mechanics and Transport Structures», dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of
Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan,
Honored Scientist and Engineer of Kazakhstan, Doctor of Technical Sciences,
Professor Schmidt Musaevich Aitaliyev
(1935–2007).
One of the honorary guests of the conference was Zhumagulov Bakhytzhan, President of
the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Doctor of
Technical Sciences, Professor, and Academician of the NAS RK, who delivered a
welcome address at the opening ceremony. In his speech, he shared valuable memories and stories from the
scientist’s life that revealed his human and professional greatness.
Held in a hybrid format, the conference brought
together leading scientists, engineers, and experts from more than ten
countries. The relevance of the topics discussed was evident in the great
interest shown by participants, as reflected in the presentation of over 200
reports within the scientific program.
The event was held with the support of the National
Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the
Republic of Kazakhstan, the National Engineering Academy of Kazakhstan, and the
country’s leading universities.
The International
Engineering and Technological University acted as a co-organizer of the
event, making a significant contribution to both the organizational and
scientific aspects of the conference.
During the plenary sessions and section meetings,
participants discussed relevant issues in mechanics, construction, and the
seismic resistance of transport structures. Special attention was devoted to
the scientific legacy of Academician Sh.M. Aitaliyev, whose fundamental
research formed the basis for the design and construction of the Almaty Metro,
particularly in developing methods for assessing the stability of underground
tunnels in seismic zones.
Participants emphasized that the scientific ideas and principles of Sh.M. Aitaliyev remain relevant today, continuing to serve as a foundation for the advancement of engineering science in Kazakhstan. The conference became an important platform for sharing experience, strengthening scientific cooperation, and promoting innovative approaches in mechanics and transport construction.
