On October 12, 2025, students of the International Engineering and Technology University (METU) took part in an excursion to the famous high-mountain skating rink “Medeu”, located in the picturesque mountains of Almaty.

The trip was organized to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen team spirit, and introduce students to the natural and cultural landmarks of the city.

During the excursion, participants hiked into the mountains, enjoyed the fresh air, and admired the breathtaking views of the Almaty foothills. One of the highlights of the trip was the ascent to the Medeu Dam — a remarkable engineering structure built to protect the city from mudflows.

Although the students did not go ice skating, the trip was filled with positive emotions, friendly interactions, and an atmosphere of unity and joy.

“It was a great opportunity to take a break from studies, enjoy nature, and appreciate the beauty of our city,” shared the METU students.

At the end of the trip, participants emphasized that such activities help strengthen student unity and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle among young people.
