On October 30, first-year students
of METU majoring in Software Engineering and Radio Engineering, Electronics,
and Telecommunications, together with a lecturer from the Department of Social
and Humanitarian Disciplines and World Languages, G. G. Tsyrenzhapova, visited
the Almaty Museum of Arts.
During the excursion, students were
introduced to various directions of contemporary art—from abstract paintings
to large-scale installations. The museum’s exhibition became a true revelation
for them: unusual materials, bold ideas, and profound imagery sparked
admiration, curiosity, and a desire to grasp the artists’ intentions.
The visit became an important
cultural event that broadened the students’ understanding of modern artistic
expression and the role of art in reflecting the issues of today’s world. A
follow-up discussion allowed participants to share their impressions and
connect what they saw with their own thoughts and experiences.
Zhumagali Azamat:
“While viewing the exhibition, I felt both admiration and amazement, but at
times also confusion and even a sense of chaos—as if the art was speaking a
language I am only beginning to learn.”
Kurbanova
Farida:
“I was most impressed by the works of Almagul Menlibayeva. Her style is unique—it harmoniously combines tradition and modernity. Each piece carries deep
meaning; it’s not just an image but a reflection on culture and time.”
Tuyebay Amanzhol:
“Contemporary art truly helps us understand the modern world. It
reflects the issues and emotions of our time—from ecology and wars to
loneliness and technology. Through unusual imagery, artists express what is
difficult to convey in words.”
The visit to the Almaty Museum of
Arts became more than just an excursion—it was an encounter with thoughts,
emotions, and art that speaks without words.
Each student left the museum a little different—with a new perspective on
art, the world, and themselves.
