“AI in Engineering Hackathon 2025” kicked off in Almaty
On November 21, 2025, the International Engineering and Technological University (IETU/METU) launched the two-day innovation marathon “AI in Engineering Hackathon 2025.” The event focuses on developing applied solutions using artificial intelligence and brings together engineers, programmers, and young researchers from leading universities in Almaty. This year, 47 teams are participating in the hackathon.
At the official opening ceremony, industry representatives and university leaders delivered welcoming speeches, wishing the participants success and emphasizing the importance of integrating AI technologies into real economic sectors.
The Rector of IETU, Associate Professor, and Corresponding Member of the National Engineering Academy of Kazakhstan, Darkhan Akpanbetov, wished the participants good luck and highlighted the hackathon as an effective platform for fostering innovation.
In his address, the Rector referred to the strategic vision of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev:
“Artificial intelligence is the main driving force of transformation. Our goal is to turn Kazakhstan into a leading, technologically advanced nation.”
The President of the Alliance for Innovation and Industrial Development and founder of the “Dolce Group” company network, Elena Li, emphasized that the hackathon is a timely initiative that responds to the current challenges of technological progress.
The “AI in Engineering Hackathon 2025,” held at IETU, serves as an important platform for developing young talents, strengthening engineering thinking, and enhancing the practical application of artificial intelligence. The university wishes all participants success and is confident that the solutions they develop will contribute to Kazakhstan’s technological advancement.
