Mirzhakyp Dulatov — a herald of the idea of national independence

At the initiative of the faculty of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines and World Languages, a literary and musical evening dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Mirzhakyp Dulatuly — a prominent figure of national spirituality and an outstanding representative of the Alash movement — was held. The event was attended by students, teachers, and staff of the university`s structural units, who gained a deeper understanding of the spiritual heritage of this distinguished figure of national literature and history, receiving valuable insights and impressions.

The main goals of the evening were as follows:
• to widely familiarize young people with the creative legacy of Mirzhakyp Dulatov, convey his ideas of national independence to the present generation, and foster patriotism, spiritual awareness, and respect for historical consciousness among students;
• to reveal the contemporary relevance of the “Oyan, qazaq!” appeal;
• to develop students’ language abilities within the framework of trilingual education.

During the evening, students staged an expressive scene from the novel “Baqytsyz Jamal”. In Kazakh, Russian, and English, they presented new perspectives on the social themes of the work, shedding fresh light on the profound issues raised by Mirzhakyp concerning women’s rights, social justice, and human destiny.

One of the highlights of the event was the students’ recitation of fiery poetic lines from the collection “Oyan, qazaq!”. They emphasized that this historical work is an eternal call to the youth, retaining its relevance over time and, moreover, becoming a source of spiritual strength for the younger generation.

The literary evening was enriched by music embodying the national spirit. The küy performed by dombyra players, poetry recited by representatives of various ethnic groups, and the students’ performance of meaningful poems such as “Segiz ayaq” filled the audience with a special sense of patriotism and created a profound and thoughtful atmosphere.

This event became not just a commemorative meeting but a step toward exploring national history, understanding the ideals of Alash, and honoring the spirit of Mirzhakyp. Students felt the diligence and courage of this great figure with their hearts, as well as his unwavering devotion to the future of the nation, deeply absorbing the spirit of statehood.
