A new international student community, WING (World International Student Group), has been established under the International Cooperation Department of the International University of Engineering and Technology. The community was created within the department to promote intercultural interaction, support international students, and contribute to the development of a truly global campus environment at METU. WING unites international and local students, providing a space for communication, cultural exchange, joint initiatives, and international projects, while also supporting student adaptation to the academic and social environment of the university.
The leadership of WING has been appointed through the department: the president of the community is Zhanbota Sydykova Sagievna, a first-year student of the “Tourism” program; the vice president and international representative is Arwa Ait Binlaassel from the Kingdom of Morocco, a second-year student of the “Software Engineering” program; and the second vice president is Almat Tuzubaev Serikovich, a first-year student of the “Tourism” program.
WING currently includes representatives of 15 countries, including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, China, the Kyrgyz Republic, Morocco, Mongolia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, the United States of America, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. This international composition is a key strength and value of the community, fully reflecting the department’s strategy to enhance internationalization and foster a multicultural environment at METU.
The establishment of WING under the International Cooperation Department is an important step in expanding the university’s international activities. The community will serve as a platform for implementing global-level projects, increasing student participation in international initiatives, and contributing significantly to the development of METU as a global campus.
