On December 5, 2025, the International Engineering and Technology
University (METU) hosted an important academic event — a guest lecture by Prof.
Dr. Necmi UYANIK from Selçuk University (Selçuk Üniversitesi), located in
Konya, Turkey.
The lecture was titled: “History, Cultural Heritage, and Sustainable
Tourism.”
The invitation was initiated by Masters of Economic Sciences, lecturers of
the Department of “Economics and Business” —
Shynar Kurmashkyzy Nurbekova and
Asiya Muratovna Doskaranova.
Students of the “Tourism” and “Marketing” educational programs took part in
the meeting, showing strong interest in the topic and actively participating in
the discussion.
Prof. Dr. Necmi Uyanik presented an in-depth academic analysis of the
historical and cultural factors influencing the development of sustainable
tourism, emphasizing the importance of preserving heritage for future
generations. He also highlighted international practices and strategic
approaches relevant to modern tourist destinations.
The lecture made a significant contribution to strengthening academic
cooperation between METU and Selçuk University, expanding students’ scientific
outlook and fostering international collaboration.
The Department of “Economics and Business” continues to actively develop
