On February 4, the III Literary Festival “Rhymes of the World of Olzhas Suleimenov” was held at the International Engineering and Technology University, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding poet, public figure, and thinker.
The event was organized by the International Centre for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Engineering and Technology University, and the City Scientific and Methodological Center for New Technologies in Education of the Almaty City Education Department. The Eurasian Cultural Foundation acted as a partner of the festival.
Among the honored guests of the festival were representatives of the scientific, cultural, and public communities. The event was attended by Igor Vladimirovich Krupko, Deputy Director for Science and External Relations of the International Centre for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO; Valery Aitmukashevich Zhandauletov, Vice President of the International Anti-Nuclear Movement “Nevada–Semipalatinsk”; Almasha Arystanovna Arenova, Head of the Political Cooperation Department of the Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan; as well as Maxime Gherenjer, Consul General of the French Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The participation of the distinguished guests emphasized the high international status of the festival and its significance as a platform for intercultural dialogue and humanitarian cooperation.
Welcoming remarks were delivered by Darkhan Akpanbetov, Rector of the International Engineering and Technology University; Igor Vladimirovich Krupko, Deputy Director of the International Centre for the Rapprochement of Cultures under the auspices of UNESCO; Valery Aitmukashevich Zhandauletov, Vice President of the International Anti-Nuclear Movement “Nevada–Semipalatinsk”; and Almasha Arystanovna Arenova, Head of the Political Cooperation Department of the MFA Representation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The festival program included a music video based on the poet’s works, archival footage, a video sociological survey among young people, and artistic readings of Olzhas Suleimenov’s poems performed by school students. Special interest was drawn to the presentation of paintings and video works created by students using artificial intelligence technologies, highlighting the connection between classical literature and modern digital tools.
The event concluded with an interactive dialogue with the audience, a Q&A session, the presentation of certificates and books, and a group photo. The festival became a significant event in the cultural life of the university and the city, emphasizing the importance of preserving literary heritage and its relevance for the younger generation.
