Open Dialogue with Students: Rector Meets with the Student Community at METU

At the International Engineering and Technology University (METU), a meeting between the Rector and students was held in an open microphone format, providing a platform for direct, open, and constructive dialogue between university leadership and the student community.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of the university, Akpanbetov Darkhan Berikovich, who emphasized the importance of continuous feedback from students. He noted that such open discussions allow the university to better understand students’ needs and to develop the institution together with them.

During the open microphone session, students actively shared ideas and asked questions on a wide range of topics. Discussions covered issues related to the academic process, including course organization, examinations, academic workload, and opportunities for participation in research and project-based activities. Considerable attention was also given to student life, the development of clubs and initiatives, and creating a supportive and motivating environment for personal growth.

A separate part of the discussion focused on dormitory living conditions, including everyday facilities, safety, accommodation procedures, and communication with the administration. Students openly shared their experiences and proposed suggestions for improving living conditions.

The Rector listened attentively to all comments and provided detailed responses, emphasizing that constructive proposals and initiatives from students would be carefully reviewed and taken into consideration. He highlighted the university’s commitment to building a modern, open, and comfortable educational environment in partnership with its students.

The meeting was held in a friendly and trusting atmosphere, strengthening mutual understanding between students and the administration. The open microphone format ensured that every student had the opportunity to be heard and clearly demonstrated METU’s policy of openness and dialogue.

Such meetings reaffirm the university’s dedication to active engagement with students and to the development of a strong, инициативe-driven, and responsible student community.
