The
International Engineering and Technological University METU participated in the
city robotics championship for school students, «UPGrade&Daryn FIRST
Scrimmage», held at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
The
«UPGrade&Daryn FIRST Scrimmage» championship was organised by the Center
for Technology Commercialisation and Creative Industries of KazNU in
cooperation with the Center for Identification and Support of Gifted Children
and Talented Youth “Almaty Daryny.” More than 185 students representing 54
teams from general education schools and lyceums of Almaty took part in the
competition.
During the
tournament, participants demonstrated their skills in designing, programming
and operating robotic systems. The competition was conducted in accordance with
the standards of the international FIRST program and included tasks in
autonomous robot control, execution of technical missions and defense of
engineering projects. The participants’ work was evaluated by KazNU faculty
members, representatives of educational institutions and specialists in IT and
robotics.
As part of the
event, METU carried out career guidance activities for school students.
University representatives introduced participants of the «UPGrade&Daryn
FIRST Scrimmage» championship to METU’s academic programs in engineering,
information technology and artificial intelligence, highlighting modern
laboratories, practice-oriented learning opportunities and future career
prospects in high-tech industries.
Participation in such initiatives reflects METU’s strategic commitment to supporting talented youth and strengthening early engineering education. The university continues to expand cooperation with educational institutions, contributing to the development of the next generation of engineering and technology professionals.
