Visiting professor Markos Bamonte from Austral University (Argentina) has started a lecture series for METU students

A lecture series by visiting professor Markos Bamonte from Austral University has started at the International Engineering and Technology University. The lectures are delivered for students of the “Software Engineering” and “Smart Technologies in Engineering” departments and have already attracted strong interest.

Professor Bamonte delivers lectures on cutting-edge topics, including: Biometrics, Robotics, Mechatronics, Emotion Recognition, Automatic Control Systems.

A key feature of the course is its practice-oriented approach. Each lecture includes real-world case discussions and transitions into hands-on tasks, where students not only reinforce their knowledge but also develop their own projects under the professor’s guidance.

During the sessions, students are actively working on prototypes of intelligent systems, such as:

  • emotion recognition systems based on computer vision;

  • elements of robotic platforms with automatic control;

  • biometric identification solutions.

Students demonstrate high engagement and motivation, actively participating in discussions and teamwork. From the early stages, they have already presented initial results in the form of concepts and prototypes, confirming their strong academic background.

It is also worth noting that the lectures are conducted entirely in English, which contributes to the development of professional terminology and reflects the high level of students’ language proficiency.

Such initiatives play an important role in strengthening international cooperation, improving education quality, and opening new opportunities for students in research and innovation.
