On February 19,
2026, the International University of Engineering and Technology hosted a
practical session "ESG: Science, Education, Business and Society – synergy
of sustainable development".
The event was
attended by renowned scientists and experts in the field of sustainable
development and ESG; representatives of organizations involved in the
development and implementation of ESG standards; environmental management
practices and "green" business transformation; heads of relevant
public and municipal structures, including the Central Asian Institute of
Environmental Research, ECO Network and the municipal government agency
"Zhasyl-Almaty."
The rector of the
University, Darkhan Akpanbetov, delivered a welcoming speech, emphasizing the
university`s role as an expert platform for shaping a sustainable future.
The presentations
of the invited experts were of particular interest. Timur Eleusizov, head of
the Zhasyl Almaty municipal state Institution, presented a systematic approach
to managing the city`s green fund and standardizing the maintenance of
territories.
Evgeny
Mukhamedzhanov, founder of the ECO Network, shared practical environmental
management cases and the Green Office and Green School projects aimed at
reducing the carbon footprint of businesses.
Students, future
engineers, environmentalists, biotechnologists and programmers, who had the
opportunity to get involved in real ESG projects, became active participants of
the event.
During this
session, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the International
University of Engineering and Technologigal and the Zhasyl Almaty Municipal
Government Institution aimed at implementing joint educational and
practice-oriented initiatives in the field of sustainable development and
environmental transformation of the urban environment.
