On February 18, 2026, an open meeting of the Academic Committee for the educational programs “Horticulture and Agricultural Soil Science” was held at the International Engineering and Technology University (METU).
The meeting covered the following degree programs:
6B08103 – “Fruit and vegetable growing and agro-soil science” (Bachelor’s degree);
7M08102 – “Fruit and vegetable growing and agro-soil sciencе” (Master’s degree).
The event brought together employers, representatives of research institutions, faculty members, and students.
During the meeting, participants discussed the modernization and improvement of the curricula for both programs in line with current trends in the agricultural sector, the implementation of innovative agrotechnologies, and labor market demands.
Particular attention was given to strengthening fundamental training in soil science, increasing the share of practice-oriented disciplines, and integrating research activities into the Master’s level educational process.
Following the discussion, recommendations were made to update the course content, redistribute certain subjects across academic years, and introduce new areas reflecting current trends in horticulture and agricultural soil science.
The decisions made are aimed at improving the quality of specialist training and enhancing graduates’ competitiveness in the labor market.
