Open Seminar on Prevention of Youth Offenses Held at METU
An open preventive seminar on the prevention of youth offenses was held at the International Technological University (METU). The event aimed to enhance students’ legal awareness, promote responsible behavior, and prevent unlawful actions within the student community.The honored guests of the seminar were:Prosecutor of the Bostandyk District Prosecutor’s Office of Almaty — Marat Anuarovich Adilov; Senior District Police Inspector of the Public Safety Department of the Bostandyk District Police Department, Police Captain — Dinara Koyshybaikyzy Magzumova. METU students actively participated in the seminar and showed strong interest in the topics discussed. The meeting featured a lively and meaningful dialogue, with relevant questions, thoughtful opinions, and practical recommendations. The speakers emphasized the importance of young people consciously shaping their future, taking personal responsibility for their actions, and valuing the trust of their parents and families. Particular attention was paid to the prevention of bullying, drug abuse, and other risks faced by students.Representatives of law enforcement agencies provided detailed explanations on: the inadmissibility of the use of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances; the importance of maintaining physical and psychological health; modern schemes used by internet fraudsters and ways to protect against them; legal consequences of extortion, bullying, and other forms of unlawful pressure among students. Within the legal awareness segment, participants were reminded of the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, including: Article 194 of the Criminal Code of the RK (Extortion) — demanding property or rights under threat of violence entails criminal liability; Article 296 of the Criminal Code of the RK (Illegal handling of narcotic drugs without intent to sell) — possession and use of narcotic substances are prohibited and punishable by law; Article 73-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the RK (Bullying of a minor) — administrative liability is предусмотрена for bullying. The speakers stressed that any forms of coercion, extortion, drug distribution, or participation in fraudulent schemes inevitably lead to legal consequences. At the conclusion of the meeting, the organizers emphasized the importance of regularly holding such preventive events aimed at strengthening legal culture and ensuring a safe student environment at METU. METU consistently continues its efforts to enhance students’ legal awareness and maintain a safe educational environment.
