A Safe Environment as the Foundation of a Conscious Generation: Bullying Prevention Discussed
At METU University, an advisor and lecturer of the Department of Software Engineering, Kunsulu Askarovna Zholshiyeva, conducted an advisory session with students of group PI-25-1.4k on the topic: “Prevention of Delinquency and Bullying Among Adolescents: Legal, Psychological, and Social Aspects.”
The main goal of the event was to enhance students’ legal awareness, explain ways to prevent bullying, and promote a culture of mutual respect and responsibility among young people. During the session, it was emphasized that bullying is not only an individual issue but also a significant social phenomenon affecting society as a whole. The lecturer discussed types of bullying, its psychological consequences, and issues of legal responsibility in detail. As part of the session, students were presented with meaningful and thought-provoking statements: “Strength is not in suppressing the weak, but in protecting them” “A single word can change a person’s fate” “Your actions today reflect who you will become tomorrow” “Silence in the face of bullying is support for it” These ideas encouraged students to reflect deeply on their behavior and communication culture.
Real-life situations were analyzed, and various decision-making scenarios were proposed. This interactive format increased participant engagement and helped them better understand the topic. In addition, the session focused on developing students’ emotional intelligence, fostering respect for others, and building skills for making правильные решения in difficult situations. Participants actively shared their opinions, and the meeting was held in an open discussion format, making it both engaging and productive. This advisory session became an important step in increasing students’ social responsibility and preventing bullying. Such initiatives contribute to shaping conscious, cultured, and responsible individuals among the youth.
