At METU University, an advisor and lecturer of the Department of Software Engineering, Lyaylya Nurbekovna Mynbayeva, conducted an open class with students of groups PI-24-1r and PI-24-1.3r on the topic: “Prevention of Delinquency and Bullying Among Adolescents: Legal, Psychological, and Social Aspects.” The main objective of the session was to enhance students’ legal awareness, explain methods of bullying prevention, and promote a culture of respectful and responsible interaction among young people. During the session, bullying was discussed not only as an individual issue but also as a significant social phenomenon affecting society as a whole. The lecturer explained various forms of bullying, its psychological impact, and issues of legal responsibility, supported by real-life examples. As part of the session, students were introduced to meaningful and thought-provoking statements: “Strength is not in suppressing the weak, but in protecting them” “A single word can change a person’s fate” “Your actions today reflect who you will become tomorrow” “Silence in the face of bullying is support for it” These ideas encouraged students to reflect on their behavior and communication culture. A key feature of the session was its interactive format. Students analyzed real-life situations and explored different approaches to decision-making in challenging circumstances. In addition, the session emphasized the development of emotional intelligence, respect for others, and the ability to act appropriately in difficult situations. Participants actively shared their opinions, creating an open dialogue environment. As a result, the session was engaging, informative, and highly beneficial for students. The open class became an important step in fostering students’ social responsibility and preventing bullying. Such educational initiatives contribute to shaping conscious, cultured, and responsible individuals among the youth.
