ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND THE FUTURE OF ENGINEERING: A METU REPRESENTATIVE PARTICIPATED IN AN INTERNATIONAL ROUND TABLE
At Almaty Technological University (ATU), a международный круглый стол was held at the Department of Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Information Technologies on the topic:
“AI in Engineering: Tool, Partner, or Competitor?”
The event brought together leading national and international scientists, representatives of the IT industry, and experts to discuss the transformation of engineering activities in the context of the rapid development of digital technologies.
During the round table, participants paid special attention to the impact of artificial intelligence on education, science, and the labor market. The role of AI technologies in engineering was also examined, including their potential to облегчать human labor or introduce new requirements.
As a result of the discussion, it was noted that artificial intelligence is not merely a tool, but a high-tech partner. It was also emphasized that future engineers must develop new competencies such as critical thinking, information analysis, content verification, and adaptability.
The international event was attended by the Head of the Department of Software Engineering at the International Engineering and Technology University,
Meruert Zhumabekovna Sakyppbekova,
who presented her report.
Her presentation addressed the integration of modern artificial intelligence technologies into the educational process, improvement of engineering training, and development of digital skills.
The participation of the METU representative contributed to strengthening international academic cooperation and exchange of experience.
The discussion session was engaging and productive, allowing participants to form a shared vision of industry development and discuss the future of AI technologies.
The program concluded with a tour of ATU’s research laboratories, where guests were introduced to the university’s innovative capabilities and infrastructure for implementing international projects.
This event highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence in engineering and provided new insights into the future of technology. Such international meetings contribute to strengthening cooperation between universities and advancing science and education.
