METU Discusses Academic Ethics Standards and Professional Conduct of Faculty

On January 27, 2025, at the beginning of the second semester, the International University of Engineering and Technology (METU) held an important meeting dedicated to strengthening corporate values. During the round table, participants discussed the vital topic: "The Code of Honor and Ethics of the Faculty."

The discussion was attended by the First Vice-Rector of METU, D.Akpanbetov. Opening the meeting, he emphasized that the university strictly adheres to the provisions of the Faculty Code of Ethics, which defines the standards for professional conduct and corporate culture. The Vice-Rector explained that such events are conducted on a systematic basis to prevent violations of academic policy and to strengthen discipline, as the personal example of a teacher and their commitment to ethical standards are key to the university`s high status.

The Head of the Human Resources Department, N.Kenbayeva, highlighted that a teacher`s professional ethics are based on a high culture of communication, subordination, and pedagogical tact. Special attention was paid to the employee`s image, which includes adherence to a business dress code and correct behavior both within the university and on social media. The principles of academic integrity were also emphasized.

B.Dzheksembayev, the METU Compliance Officer, focused specifically on the prevention of violations. In his speech, he covered aspects of anti-corruption resilience, stressing the obligations of staff to ensure the transparency of examination processes and to prevent conflicts of interest. It was noted that compliance with anti-corruption standards is a mandatory condition for professional activity at METU.

"The Faculty Code of Honor is the foundation of our corporate culture. Entering the new academic year, every METU teacher must remember that they are not only a conveyor of knowledge but also a moral compass for future specialists. High discipline and ethics are our priority tasks," noted First Vice-Rector D.B. Akpanbetov.

At the conclusion of the round table, HR Head N.S. Kenbayeva and Compliance Officer B.M. Dzheksembayev answered participants` questions regarding labor legislation, legal norms, and ethical aspects in the modern educational environment.

The university staff expressed a unified opinion: strict adherence to the Code`s norms from the first days of the academic year fosters an atmosphere of trust, fairness, and high professionalism at METU.
