Educational Integration in Central Asia: Career Guidance Meetings in the Tashkent Region
A delegation from the Department of International Cooperation of the International Engineering and Technological University (METU) conducted a working visit to the Tashkent region, visiting Kazakh-language schools in the city of Chirchik and the Bostanlyk district. This initiative marked a significant milestone in the implementation of the university`s internationalization strategy and the strengthening of educational ties within the Central Asian region.
As part of the program to attract talented youth, university representatives held a series of meetings with graduates of schools No. 1, 6, 33, 34, and 53 in the Bostanlyk district, as well as schools No. 3 and 16 in the city of Chirchik.
The participation of a METU student, a native of Chirchik, in the delegation resonated strongly with the pupils. His personal story of adaptation and professional growth served as real confirmation for the students that high-quality innovative education is accessible. In an open-dialogue format, the student shared firsthand insights about the university`s high-tech infrastructure, its rich academic environment, and the career prospects available to graduates in the global labor market.
Under the leadership of Karlygash Shokhayeva, Director of the International Cooperation Department, detailed presentations of the university’s educational trajectories were conducted. During the meetings, senior students were introduced to the innovative opportunities of the university, noting the high level of interest in modern laboratories and specialties within the IT and engineering technology sectors.
The applicants focused particularly on global opportunities: graduates were keenly interested in academic mobility programs and METU’s extensive list of international partner universities, which provide a pathway to the global scientific community. The presentations provided detailed explanations of admission rules for foreign citizens, grant support mechanisms, and unique learning conditions. The importance of involving current students in such outreach missions was emphasized, as it has proven to be an effective tool for demonstrating METU`s openness and academic accessibility to the region`s talented youth.
The successful completion of this series of meetings in the Tashkent region has laid the foundation for a long-term partnership between METU and the region`s educational institutions. The university continues to scale its activities as a key intellectual hub, facilitating the integration of Central Asian youth into the modern international educational space.
