Expanding Academic Partnership: Visit of the METU Delegation to the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (Tashkent, Uzbekistan)
A delegation from the International Cooperation Department of the International University of Engineering and Technology (METU), led by Director Karlygash Nurlanovna Shokhayeva, visited the Tashkent University of Information Technologies named after Muhammad al-Khwarizmi (TUIT). This visit marked an important milestone in strengthening partnerships between the universities and expanding academic collaboration in the region.
The program began with an introduction to the TUIT campus and its technical facilities. The host university management provided a detailed tour, showcasing modern classrooms and cutting-edge research laboratories to the METU delegation. Representatives of the Kazakhstani university personally assessed the infrastructure used for training specialists in information technology and telecommunications.
During the visit, a special meeting was organized with third-year Software Engineering students from METU — Adilet Faizullaev, Nurbolat Akylbay, and Nursultan Albanbekov — who are currently studying in Tashkent under the academic mobility program. Karlygash Nurlanovna met with the students in an informal setting to discuss their academic progress, living conditions, and overall impressions of the educational process in another country. Such meetings reaffirm METU`s status as a university dedicated to supporting and developing the potential of its students abroad.
In official negotiations, the parties addressed strategically important issues in the development of higher education. University representatives discussed their institutions` positions in the global QS rankings and exchanged experiences on improving international recognition. The meeting concluded with the identification of future cooperation vectors, including the launch of new joint projects and the expansion of exchange programs, opening even broader horizons for professional growth for both faculty and students.
