Global Goals and Shared Values: The Meeting in Sunny Almaty Strengthened the Alliance Between METU and Baku State University (Baku, Azerbaijan)
From April 6 to 8, the II Forum of Rectors of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan Higher Education Institutions was held in the sunny city of Almaty, Kazakhstan, organized under the international platform "Study in Azerbaijan." A delegation from the International University of Engineering and Technology (METU) took part in this large-scale event. The primary goal of the university`s participation was to establish new partnerships and strengthen academic collaboration. Karlygash Nurlanovna Shokhayeva, Director of the International Cooperation Department at METU, held a series of meetings and negotiations aimed at establishing direct contacts with representatives of the Azerbaijani educational system. Thanks to active engagement during the forum, the university successfully established contacts and laid the foundation for future cooperation with several leading Azerbaijani higher education institutions.
A highlight of the program was the meeting between Karlygash Nurlanovna and the Rector of Baku State University (BSU), Elchin Safarali oglu Babayev. METU and BSU already share a successful bilateral agreement, which actively facilitates academic mobility programs. During a personal conversation held in an atmosphere of warmth and mutual understanding, Karlygash Nurlanovna Shokhayeva expressed her sincere gratitude to the BSU leadership for supporting our university in the international QS rankings. Both parties noted that such trust highlights the high level of partnership between the institutions.
The negotiations also addressed the success of METU students currently studying in Baku under the academic mobility program. The existing agreement allows students to integrate into the international educational environment of one of the region`s most prestigious universities. The leaders expressed confidence in continued strong cooperation, discussing the expansion of student and faculty exchanges as well as the development of joint scientific initiatives. Participation in the forum allowed METU not only to strengthen relations with long-standing strategic partners but also to significantly expand its network of international contacts, contributing to the university`s global recognition.
