As part of the
Science Decade, the International Engineering Technological University hosted a
round table on the topic “Development of Scientific Potential and Research
Competencies in Modern Conditions,” bringing together faculty members, young
researchers, doctoral students, and representatives of the academic community.
During the
event, presentations addressed key issues such as publication activity,
selection of international scientific journals, working with the Scopus and Web
of Science databases, and legal protection of intellectual property. As part of
the round table, representatives of international and national organizations
delivered presentations, including Inesh Kenzhina (Clarivate) on selecting
journals and publishing in international scientific journals, Rabiga Khojamkul
(Informascope) on publications in the Scopus database, Nazerke Baisholan on
reproducibility in machine learning research, and Aizhan Imansayeva on legal
protection of intellectual property.
A distinctive
feature of the round table was its strong practical orientation. Speakers not
only presented theoretical insights but also demonstrated the use of scientific
platforms and tools through real examples. In a live format, participants were
shown how to search for journals, analyze journal metrics, and prepare
scientific publications, thereby gaining practical skills.
The round table
also included an active discussion session, during which doctoral students
raised a number of important questions related to publication strategies,
journal selection, and the requirements of international journals. The speakers
provided detailed answers and shared their professional experience.
The event became
an important platform for fostering research culture and improving the quality
of scientific publications.
