METU Expands International Cooperation: Memorandum Signed with Liaoning Vocational University of Technology and the Jingshi Center for Software Engineering Officially Opened
International Engineering and Technological University has taken an important step in strengthening international academic cooperation by officially announcing a strategic partnership with one of China’s leading technical universities — Liaoning Vocational University of Technology.
During the official visit of the Chinese delegation, the parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will serve as the foundation for long-term cooperation in education, science, innovation, and the training of highly qualified international-level specialists.
A key highlight of the meeting was the grand opening ceremony of the Jingshi Center for Software Engineering at METU. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of both universities, representatives of international educational organizations, as well as members of the academic communities of Kazakhstan and China.
According to the approved event program, participants were presented with university presentations, official speeches by representatives of both sides, and the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between METU and Liaoning Vocational University of Technology. A separate stage of the program included the signing of documents on the establishment of the Jingshi Institute and the joint opening ceremony of the new educational center.
The participation of representatives from the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China added special significance to the event, highlighting the high level of international cooperation and the support of the initiative by Chinese educational institutions.
The establishment of the Jingshi Center is of strategic importance for METU and opens new opportunities for training specialists in software engineering, digital technologies, and modern IT solutions. The opening of the center will facilitate the implementation of advanced international educational standards, modern teaching methodologies, and practice-oriented training programs.
METU students and faculty members will gain access to innovative educational materials, joint research projects, and academic mobility programs, significantly enhancing the competitiveness of graduates in the international labor market.
The memorandum also provides for the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects, research in engineering and digitalization, as well as active exchange of experience among professors, researchers, and students of both universities.
Special attention is being given to the development of academic mobility. The parties plan to organize exchange programs, internships, professional development courses, and joint educational initiatives, including degree-oriented programs.
In addition to educational and scientific activities, the partnership aims to strengthen cultural and humanitarian ties between Kazakhstan and China. The universities intend to jointly organize international forums, scientific conferences, cultural events, and student festivals.
The selection of Liaoning Vocational University of Technology as a strategic partner is well justified. The university is considered one of China’s leading state institutions in technical and engineering education, actively cooperates with the industrial sector, and demonstrates a high level of integration of modern digital technologies into the educational process.
For METU, the signing of the memorandum and the opening of the Jingshi Center for Software Engineering represent an important step toward strengthening the university’s international status, developing innovative education, and integrating into the global scientific and educational community.
