METU Presented Digital Agriculture Research and Engineering Solutions at the Republican “Field Day – 2026” Seminar

Representatives of the International Engineering and Technological University (METU) participated in the Republican seminar-meeting "Field Day – 2026", held at the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Plant Growing. The theme of this year`s event was "Digital Technologies in Agricultural Production as the Foundation of Sustainable Development."

The seminar brought together Azat Sultanov, Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, directors of research institutes, university researchers, agribusiness representatives, international organizations, and agricultural producers.

The event began with a tour of demonstration fields and a technology exhibition, where participants were introduced to new crop varieties, precision farming technologies, digital crop monitoring platforms, irrigation systems, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), soil moisture and condition sensors, and innovative solutions for the digital transformation of the agro-industrial sector.

As part of the exhibition, METU showcased its own scientific developments and engineering solutions for agricultural applications. The University`s projects in artificial intelligence, robotics, autonomous mobile platforms, computer vision, intelligent sensor systems, and digital monitoring technologies attracted considerable interest from participants.

During the plenary session, Dr. Moldir Kuatova, Director of the Department of Scientific and Innovative Activities at METU, delivered a presentation entitled "Future Agri-Innovations: Applications of Drones, Robotic Systems, and Additive Technologies in Agriculture."

The presentation highlighted global trends in the digital transformation of agriculture, demonstrating practical examples of autonomous robots, unmanned aerial systems, intelligent data analytics, and precision farming technologies. Particular attention was given to the adaptation of these technologies to Kazakhstan`s agricultural conditions and to opportunities for joint research in artificial intelligence, robotics, and digital agriculture.

During the seminar, participants discussed the future of digital transformation in the agro-industrial sector, the implementation of artificial intelligence and big data technologies, the development of national digital agricultural platforms, and the importance of strengthening cooperation among science, education, industry, and government to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies.

METU`s participation in the Republican seminar marked another important step in expanding the University`s collaboration with Kazakhstan`s leading scientific organizations and demonstrated its readiness to implement joint research and engineering projects aimed at advancing the digitalization and robotization of the country`s agricultural sector.
