The International
Engineering and Technological University (METU) held an extended meeting to
summarize the results of the 2025–2026 academic year and outline the
university’s strategic priorities for future development.
During the
meeting, Bakytzhan Tursynuly Zhumagulov, President of the National Engineering
Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, President of the Kazakhstan Mathematical
Society, Academician, and Professor, delivered a welcoming address. He
congratulated the faculty members and staff of METU, highlighted the
university’s key achievements in education and science during the academic
year, and expressed his best wishes for the successful implementation of future
initiatives.
At the end
of his speech, Professor Bakytzhan Zhumagulov presented two books by Mo Yan,
the Chinese Nobel Prize laureate in Literature—"How Are You, Mr.
Faulkner?" and **"The Garlic Ballads"*—to the university
library. These valuable additions to the library collection will broaden the
cultural horizons of students and faculty while providing an opportunity to
become more familiar with the works of one of the most prominent contemporary
Chinese writers. The university administration and staff expressed their
sincere gratitude to Professor Zhumagulov for his generous gift and continued
support of the university’s educational initiatives.
During the
meeting, Vice-Rector Assel Asylbekkyzy Abdildayeva delivered a report on the
strategic priorities for the development of the university’s academic
activities and international cooperation. She emphasized the importance of
improving the quality of education, expanding partnerships with foreign
universities, and strengthening academic mobility programs.
The
prospects for the development of the university’s research activities were
presented by Oksana Leonidovna Karuna in her report entitled "A New
Stage in the Development of METU Science." She introduced the results
achieved in strengthening the university’s research potential, implementing
innovative projects, and promoting the commercialization and practical
application of scientific developments.
The meeting
also included a presentation by Mayra Khusainovna Shalabayeva, Director of the
College, who summarized the College’s performance during the 2025–2026 academic
year. She reviewed the key achievements of the College and outlined the main
priorities for the upcoming academic year, including improving the educational process,
modernizing the material and technical infrastructure, and creating a more
comfortable learning environment for students.
The extended meeting provided an opportunity to review the achievements of the past academic year, define the key objectives for the upcoming period, and reaffirm METU’s commitment to further development in education, scientific research, and international cooperation.
