On February 21, 2026, the department held a meeting dedicated to improving the educational program «6B11201 – Life Safety and environmental protection».

          The discussion was attended by Karimzhan Rahman Karimzhanovich, First Deputy of the Department of Emergency Situations of the Almaty region, Seilkhan Akkazinovich Askarov, representative of Ecoservice-S LLP, Head of the Catalysis Department of the D.V. Sokolsky Institute of Fuel, Catalysis and Electrochemistry, PhD Talgatov Eldar Talgatov, as well as the faculty of the department and students of the educational program.

          During the meeting, issues of further development of the educational program, improving the quality of training specialists in the field of life safety and environmental protection, as well as its compliance with modern labor market requirements were discussed. The participants paid special attention to updating the content of academic disciplines, taking into account the development of digital technologies, the introduction of modern methods of analysis, modeling and forecasting of emergency situations.

          Following the discussion, it was decided to change the name of the discipline «Natural and man-made emergencies and their predicted consequences» to «Modeling and forecasting the consequences of emergencies». The new name more accurately reflects the modern orientation of the discipline, which provides for the study of methods of mathematical and computer modeling, data analysis, risk assessment and forecasting the development of emergency situations.

          The changes introduced are aimed at improving the content of the educational program, developing students` practical competencies in the field of risk management, emergency prevention and response, as well as training highly qualified specialists who meet modern professional requirements.
