On February 12, 2026, the department held a meeting dedicated to improving the educational program «6B05102 – Bioengineering and Bioinformatics».

Representatives of employers took part in the discussion: Candidate of Biological Sciences, leading researcher at the Scientific and Production Center of Microbiology and Virology Saltanat Emilyevna Orazymbet; PhD, Deputy Director for Production at the Scientific and Production Center of Microbiology and Virology Zhanar Shadibekovna Zhumadilova; Tamara Abdullayevna Bukeeva, Head of the Laboratory of Immunology at the Scientific Center for Anti-Infective Drugs, as well as the faculty of the department and students of the educational program.

During the meeting, proposals were considered to update the curriculum of the educational program, taking into account current trends in the development of bioengineering, bioinformatics and biotechnology, as well as the needs of employers and the scientific community.

Following the discussion, it was decided to update a number of academic disciplines.:

• replace the discipline «Plant Physiology» with «Molecular fundamentals of plant Breeding»;

• replace the discipline «Biotechnology of milk and dairy products» with «Immunobiology»;

• Replace the discipline «Biotechnology of meat and meat products» with «Biostatistics».

The changes introduced are aimed at strengthening the molecular genetic, biomedical and digital training of students, as well as the formation of competencies necessary to work with modern biotechnological and bioinformatics technologies.
