On February 17, 2026, the
department held a meeting dedicated to improving the educational program of the
doctoral program «8D05101 – Biotechnology».
Representatives of
employers took part in the discussion: Candidate of Biological Sciences,
Professor, General Director of the Scientific and Production Center of
Microbiology and Virology Shorabayev Yerik Zharylkasynovich; Candidate of
Biological Sciences, leading researcher of the Scientific and Production Center
of Microbiology and Virology Saltanat Emilyevna Orazymbet; PhD Zhanar
Shadibekovna Zhumadilova, as well as the teaching staff of the department and
doctoral students of the educational program.
During the meeting,
proposals were considered to update the curriculum of the doctoral program,
taking into account modern achievements in biotechnology, molecular biology,
genomics and the needs of the research field.
Following the discussion,
it was decided to update a number of academic disciplines.:
• replace the discipline «Modern
methods of food research» with «Functional
Genomics and Proteomics»;
• The discipline «Process
Engineering» should be replaced by «Molecular
mechanisms of gene regulation».
The changes introduced are
aimed at improving the content of the educational program, developing modern
research competencies among doctoral students and training highly qualified
specialists capable of conducting fundamental and applied research in the field
of biotechnology, molecular biology and bioengineering.
The representatives of
employers stressed the need for regular updating of the educational program in
accordance with global trends in the development of biotechnological science.
In their opinion, the inclusion of new disciplines will allow doctoral students
to deepen their knowledge in the field of functional genomics, proteomics,
molecular mechanisms of gene regulation and modern methods of bioinformatic
analysis, which will contribute to improving the quality of scientific research
and training competitive specialists for academic and industrial fields.
