On February 17, 2026, the department held a meeting dedicated to improving the Master`s degree program «7M05101 – Biotechnology».

Representatives of employers took part in the discussion: Candidate of Biological Sciences, Professor, General Director of the Scientific and Production Center of Microbiology and Virology Shorabayev Yerik Zharylkasynovich; Candidate of Biological Sciences, leading researcher of the Scientific and Production Center of Microbiology and Virology Saltanat Orazymbet Emilievna; PhD, Deputy Director of Production of the Scientific and Production Center of Microbiology and Virology Zhanar Shadibekovna Zhumadilova; Tamara Abdullayevna Bukeeva, Head of the Laboratory of Immunology at the Scientific Center for Anti-Infective Drugs, as well as the faculty of the department, undergraduates and doctoral students.

During the meeting, proposals were considered to update the content of the educational program, taking into account modern achievements in the field of molecular biology, genomics, bioengineering and the requirements of the biotechnology industry.

Following the discussion, it was decided to update a number of academic disciplines.:

• Replace the discipline «Biotechnology of canned meat products» with «Molecular mechanisms of gene regulation»;

• Replace the discipline «Management and service in public catering enterprises» with «Quality management systems».

The changes are aimed at strengthening the scientific and practical training of undergraduates, developing competencies in the fields of molecular biology, genomics, quality management and modern biotechnological research. The updated educational program is focused on training specialists who are able to effectively solve scientific and industrial problems in the context of the dynamic development of the biotechnology industry.
