The METU Youth Organizations Committee organized a visit by the university community to the “Küy – Uran” concert dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Qarshyga Akhmediyarov, a prominent Kazakh küyshi-composer and distinguished master of the traditional dombra art.
During the evening, the academic orchestra “Otyrar Sazy” named after Nurgisa Tlendiev performed works from Kazakhstan’s national musical heritage, creating a memorable spiritual and cultural experience for the audience. Through the traditional Kazakh art of küy, the history, culture, and national identity of the Kazakh people were celebrated and presented.
For the METU community, the evening became a meaningful cultural event that provided an opportunity to honour national art and become more closely acquainted with the rich musical heritage of the Kazakh people. The concert allowed the audience to experience the power and depth of küy and to appreciate the spiritual significance of traditional art passed down from generation to generation.
The creative legacy of Qarshyga Akhmediyarov is a priceless part of Kazakh küy heritage and holds a special place in the country’s national musical culture.
