Strategic Partnership in High-Tech: METU and Xinjiang SOJO New Energy Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Today, the International Engineering and Technological University (METU) took another significant step towards the global integration of science, education, and advanced manufacturing. The university hosted an official meeting with the leadership of the major Chinese high-tech company Xinjiang SOJO New Energy Co., Ltd., which concluded with the signing of a bilateral memorandum of cooperation.

To discuss the prospects of joint projects, a high-level delegation from the PRC visited the university, including Wang Weiping, President of Xinjiang SOJO New Energy Co., Ltd., and Chen Jingchang, General Director.

SOJO is a recognized leader in power grid digitalization, renewable energy, and electric vehicle infrastructure. The partnership with METU — one of the flagships of engineering education in Kazakhstan — will open new horizons for the development of green technologies in the region.

As part of the visit, Darkhan Akpanbetov, Rector of METU, personally guided the foreign guests on a tour of the campus. The Chinese delegation was shown modern academic buildings and cutting-edge research laboratories of the university. Mr. Wang Weiping and Mr. Chen Jingchang highly praised the technical equipment of the university, noting its deep, practice-oriented approach to training young engineers.

The signed memorandum lays a solid foundation for long-term cooperation. The main areas of collaboration between METU and Xinjiang SOJO New Energy will include:

  • Joint Innovations: Development of research projects in alternative energy, automation, and energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge Transfer: Masterclasses, workshops, and lectures by SOJO`s top managers and leading engineers for METU students and faculty.
  • Internships and Career: Creation of internship programs for the university`s best students at SOJO`s production sites, with prospects for their further employment in international technology projects.

The visit concluded in a warm, friendly atmosphere. The parties exchanged memorable gifts and expressed confidence that today`s event would mark the beginning of a grand and successful history of technological cooperation.
