METU and Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K.I. Skryabin: New Prospects for Cooperation and Academic Mobility

On 6 November 2026, a delegation from the International Engineering and Technological University (METU) paid a working visit to Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K. I. Skryabin (KNAU). The delegation was led by Asel Asylbekovna Abdildayeva, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and International Relations, and Karlygash Nurlanovna Shokhayeva, Director of the Department of International Cooperation.

The METU delegation was warmly welcomed by Almazbek Momunovich Arzybaev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at KNAU. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere and focused on opportunities for cooperation between the two universities.

This was the METU delegation’s first visit to KNAU since the signing of the cooperation agreement. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the practical implementation of the agreement, identify priorities for joint activities and strengthen direct dialogue between representatives of the universities.

The central topic of the negotiations was the development of student academic mobility. The parties discussed opportunities to organise student exchanges and expand educational ties. METU is interested in creating opportunities for students to study at the partner university, experience new approaches to learning within their disciplines and broaden their academic horizons.

For students, participation in such a programme offers an opportunity to deepen their subject knowledge, develop independence, gain experience in intercultural communication and establish professional connections. Developing mobility between METU and KNAU will help make the partnership a meaningful part of students’ educational experience.

The meeting also addressed prospects for educational and research cooperation. Future collaboration may include exchanges of teaching experience, guest lectures and research seminars, the development of a visiting professor programme and joint research initiatives. These activities offer opportunities for closer interaction among faculty members, researchers and relevant academic departments.

For METU, developing its partnership with KNAU named after K. I. Skryabin offers an opportunity to bring together the educational and research expertise of both universities. Joint activities can expand opportunities for students’ practical training and lay the foundation for interdisciplinary cooperation.

The first visit following the signing of the agreement marked an important step in developing the partnership. METU looks forward to sustained joint efforts to launch academic exchanges and implement initiatives that serve the interests of students and faculty at both institutions.

The International Engineering and Technological University expresses its sincere gratitude to the leadership of Kyrgyz National Agrarian University named after K. I. Skryabin and personally to Almazbek Momunovich Arzybaev for the warm welcome, hospitality and constructive dialogue. We greatly value the opportunity to work together and look forward to a lasting and fruitful partnership that strengthens educational and research ties between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
