The
Department of Social Sciences, Humanities and World Languages held “Movie
Time,” a film event designed to develop students’ English communication skills.
Combining a film screening with a discussion, the event gave participants an
opportunity to put their language knowledge into practice, strengthen their
understanding of spoken English and express their ideas.
Watching
a film in English enabled students to observe how words and expressions are
used in specific situations. Participants listened to the characters’
dialogues, paying attention to pronunciation, intonation and the ways meaning
is conveyed. The film’s narrative provided a context for understanding the
language.
During
the discussion that followed, students explored the film’s central theme and
shared their views on the characters’ actions in English. Explaining their
perspectives, listening to others and using new expressions brought listening
and speaking practice together. The discussion also aimed to develop critical
thinking and constructive communication.
Students
took an active part in “Movie Time.” The combination of film viewing and
discussion connected English language learning with conversation around shared
interests, creating opportunities for participants to express themselves
freely.
The event
reflected the department’s approach to connecting language education with
cultural understanding and the development of students’ communication skills.
Throughout “Movie Time,” English served as a means of understanding the film,
exchanging ideas and engaging in dialogue.
